On Feb. 15, 2005, 8 photographers from the Documentary Group of Utah spent 18 hours photographing the duties of nurses at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. With the exception of a brief stint in the Emergency room, most of my time was spent in the Burn Trauma unit. A short time before I arrived, a woman was brought in from a chemical plant with life threatening burns to most of her body. She wasn´t expected to live. The following photographs show the work of nurses in saving her life and administering care to other patients.
